Credentials

I am a native Spanish-speaker who has studied for a four year degree in Spanish Literature and Linguistics with a minor in tourism. I have also traveled extensively throughout many of the Spanish-speaking countries of South America. This has helped me to develop a firm understanding and appreciation of the rich cultural diversity & history associated with each Spanish-speaking country and I try to pass on this knowledge to my students during the course of their studies.

Teaching Experience - Private Classes

I have over sixteen years of teaching experience and have taught a wide range of students from absolute beginners to highly advanced level. My current students come from a wide range of backgrounds and professions including: lawyers; corporate executives; social workers; fashion magazine editors; college students; project managers; sales representatives; IT directors; graphic designers; professional chefs; human resource directors; and professionals within the medical field.

Teaching Methodology

When meeting a new student for the first time, I feel it is important for me to understand the individual student's motivation to learn Spanish. This helps me to customized my lessons to match the student's particular needs and interests.

I also generally set homework exercises at the end of each lesson to reinforce the material covered that week. If the student takes their studies seriously, this can significantly increases the rate of the student's progress.

Learning Spanish should also be fun! Although learning Spanish takes some effort on the part of the student, it should still be an enjoyable and rewarding experience. This is one reason why I also encourage student's to explore the rich cultural resources.
